New course available for workers supporting people living with and beyond cancer

From September 2014 a new module will be available from the Cancer Education Team at Edinburgh Napier University (ENU).

TheĀ course, Supporting patients living with and beyond cancer,Ā was developedĀ in response to the views of professionals working with individuals and families living with and beyond cancer; current policy and government directives of care and up-to-date research evidence.

How can the course be taken?

This is anĀ online course andĀ can be taken at BSc or MSc levels and it can be completed as part of a programme of study or as a stand alone module.

Who is the course relevant for?

This course is open to professionals working in the primary and secondary care, voluntary, leisure and social care sectors.

Course aims

This course aims to deliver education on:

  • the policy and drivers that are influencing the agenda for people living with and beyond cancer
  • the influence of late effects as consequences from treatment on personal experience and service provision
  • strategies to educate and support people who use services, carers and professionals.

Students are asked to engage in discussion board forums based on reflective activities and tasks.Ā  There are also several online lectures that are delivered by experts in their field.

The course can be taken at BSc (Ā£305) or MSc (Ā£570) levels and can be completed as part of a programme of study or as a stand-alone module. It is due to commence in September 2014 and will run over 30 weeks.

    My wife has been diagnosed with cancer Christmas 2013. I am now her full time carer and I would like any training that would help us deal with this. Thank you for your time and attention…
