For some years now KEY and Community Lifestyles have marked the achievements of their staff who have successfully completed their SVQ, PDA and Internal Assessor/Verifier qualifications with a special award ceremony at their office in Glasgow.Â
The time to do this had come round again and this year turned out to be their biggest celebration yet, with 120 of KEY and Community Lifestyles staff having achieved their qualification. The event brought together successful candidates from as far apart as Thurso and Dumfries.
It was a day to reflect upon and recognise not only the personal achievements of those receiving their awards but also the importance of having a highly skilled workforce in delivering good quality, person-centred support to enable people to live full, active lives in communities right across Scotland. A theme which was echoed by keynote speaker, Alan Baird, Chief Social Work Adviser to the Scottish Government, who in his address recognised candidates’ contribution to their personal learning and development and the powerful message that this sends about their commitment to doing their job really well.
As is tradition, candidates received their awards from Angus Turner of KEY and Community Lifestyles Management Committees and Agnes Kelly, Chairperson of The Advisory Group (TAG), spoke on behalf of people supported by KEY and Community Lifestyles, to thank staff for “the important and skilled job they do”.
Louise and Daniel from KEY tell us about how they felt doing their SVQ in this short film.
