When a worker applies for registration and they don’t have the right qualification we can grant registration with the condition that they gain the qualification within a set timescale.
There have been times when workers have told us that they’ve been unable to complete the qualification in the time they have been given.
We assess each individual case, so we need to gain as much information as possible from the registrant and their employer to help us consider the registrant’s circumstances. The registrant and employer need to fill in a ‘conditions not met’ form which we send out. We can then make a decision if further time can be given to complete the required qualification.
It’s important that we receive enough information to allow us to make a decision. If we don’t, it causes delays in the process and, in some cases, we need to lapse the worker’s registration. This is a situation we want to avoid.
We have reviewed our ‘conditions not met’ form to make it easier to provide all of the information we need first time round. You can take a look at the form here.
An employer’s role in this process is extremely important as it is a very serious matter if a registrant does not meet the qualification requirements of their registration. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our new form. If you have to complete this for any of your staff, please make sure they have provided as full and accurate information as possible.
