An event for workers in health and social care
Building practice around personal outcomes is a process of change not a quick fix. So what keeps you going? What enables you to
continue focussing on personal outcomes with people? What supports you to support and influence colleagues? This event aims to provide time, space and networking opportunities for you to reflect on and share what keeps you enthused and focused and promotes your own wellbeing and that of those you work with.
There will be opportunities to hear how others do this and what tools and resources are available to support the resilience of you, your team and organisation.
Focussing on what matters to people is at the heart of health and social care policy and direction in Scotland. One of the things that will make this happen is a workforce that is increasingly supported to adopt a personal outcomes approach in their daily work.
This means having good conversations with people about their priorities, enabling them to participate in decision making which impacts on their human rights and supporting them to build on their own ability to live the best lives possible.
An outcomes approach needs to be adopted by the whole organisation. Communication should be two way. Staff need to know not just that they have permission to practice differently but that the information they gather will influence service developments.
Staff development and supervision are critical components. The Institute for Research and Innovation for Social Services (IRISS) will present findings from their recent supervision project at the event.
Outcomes from the day
Increased awareness, knowledge, learning and evidence about:
- ways to help keep enthused and focused at work
- what resilience means for you and your organisation
- resources that can support you
- how others maintain their resilience.
