Digital technology and social media for social work conference

A free conference to explore the use of social media and digital technology for social work practice will be held in Stirling on 8 February 2016. The event is being supported by the SSSC.

ipadThinking of the future: innovations and developments for social work practice: social media and digital technology for social work practice will bring together presenters from across the UK, including social work managers, practitioners and academics.

Delegates will be able to choose from a range of workshops which explore how social media and digital technologies are being used in social work practice and there will also be presentations and opportunities for networking and discussions.

At the Innovation Station delegates will have the chance to discuss their own ideas with Amanda Taylor from the University of Central Lancashire School of Social Work, Care and Community who was recently named by JISC as one of the top 50 social media influencers in Higher Education in the UK.

Other speakers include Dr Tarsem Singh Cooner, Centre of Excellence in Interdisciplinary Mental Health and University of Birmingham, and Dr Anne Campbell, Queen’s University Belfast, who have both developed apps for social work and Ian Watson from the Institute for Research and Innovation in Social Services (IRISS).
