Dundee City Council’s Housing Support Team’s Christmas party

On Tuesday 22 December at 12 noon the West District Housing Office in Lochee, Dundee will be turning into a party venue for the people who use their service who may feel lonely and isolated this Christmas.

Mike Comerford, the Co-ordinator of the Housing Support Team tells us more:

“This party may be the only opportunity for some of our service users to enjoy a Christmas celebration with other people. It’s become a well-attended annual event with people all ages and from all walks of life coming to join in the fun.”

“Our staff help to raise funds for the event by home baking, making soup and bacon rolls (in their own time) and selling all the goodies around the office. These funds help to buy party food for the free buffet and gifts for everyone attending.”

“We also provide entertainment, usually in the form of guest singers.”

After the party Mike gives us an update:

Our Christmas party for service users took place today and was well attended. Service users were entertained with Christmas carols by the Life Gate Church. There was also a free prize draw, where all received a prize.

Before heading home service users enjoyed a festive buffet and a chat with housing support staff from the team.
