Our new app, Engaging with Children and Young People, explores what you need to know, and be able to do, to engage effectively with children and young people.
The user-friendly app has case studies and a mix of other learning activities designed to support you to apply your learning to your practice.
The topics included in the app are:
- reflective practice
- promoting children and young people’s self-esteem and self-worth
- building positive relationships
- Getting it Right for Every Child (GIRFEC)
- children and young people with additional support needs.
Is the app for you?
If you’re a new worker in the children’s sector, have been asked to work with children in different age groups, mainly support adults, or just want to refresh your knowledge, this app is for you.
Like all of our apps, it’s intended to provide a starting point for your learning and to encourage you to carry out further study in this area of practice.
You may also find this app useful if you are undertaking a SVQ in Social Services (Children and Young People), as it could help you with your underpinning knowledge.
The app is free to download and is available from iTunes.
Although it’s currently only available for iPads, we are looking at ways of making the material in this app accessible in other formats.
