SSSC Chief Executive Anna Fowlie and Convener Jim McGoldrick visited the General Medical Council’s fitness to practise offices in Manchester to help build better relationships between regulators in Scotland.
The visit gives us an opportunity to share information and best practice in many areas of our work including the fitness to practise process.
Anna Fowlie said:
‘We are delighted to be invited to visit the GMC and share learning. We are committed to working with other regulators to make sure our processes are as proportionate as possible while focused on public protection and improving the quality of care people receive.’
Jim McGoldrick said:
‘I am a great believer in learning and there’s a lot to explore in the differences and similarities in our approaches to regulation. In social services in Scotland, our registrant profile is very different to that of the GMC but we have a shared belief in fairness, consistency and public assurance.’
