Sharing the learning from the Review of Social Work Education

The second phase of the Review of Social Work Education is now complete and we are holding an event to hear the evidence so far in Glasgow on Wednesday 23 March.

SSSC acronym logo - colourThe event brings together around 100 stakeholders including social workers, universities, employers, carers and people using social services. They will hear from university and employer partnerships commissioned to carry out research into different aspects of social work education and have the opportunity to inform how we take these findings forward.

Delegates will also have the chance to explore the different options for implementing a probationary year for newly qualified social workers (NQSW).

The event will also look at the revision of the Standards in Social Work Education (SiSWE), post registration training and learning, a standard for NQSW and developing an improved model of integrated learning.

The feedback and outcomes from the event will help the Review of Social Work Education Strategic Group decide on what needs to happen next.

Hello Sandra, I wonder if you can direct me to the information released following this event? I attended and thought it was a very useful day with helpful inputs, an opportunity to be involved in considering the proposed probationary year for NQSWs and a range of workshops to attend. In relation to the workshops, which allowed for feedback on a range of work streams and discussion of findings and proposals, some presenters had reports of their work to share. I wonder if these are available as documents on the SSSC website? Thank you.

      Hi Gillian,

      Thanks for your comment.

We are in the process of finalising various reports which will summarise where we currently are with the review of social work education and these will be made available as soon as they are completed.

Following the our Council meeting next week an update will be available on our website. I will share the link here on SSSC News Online.

      I hope this helps.

      Sandra
