Watch our new videos to find out about what we do and what you need to do to register with us

We have developed two new videos to help explain who we are and what we do.

The Who we are video is aimed at new staff joining the social service workforce and people who use services and their carers who might not know about us.

The Registration video is for workers who are already registered with us or will register with us in the future. It explains:

  • what registration is
  • what workers need to do to register
  • what you need to do to stay on the Register.

We have also just sent up to date information material about the SSSC out to social service organisations registered with the Care Inspectorate. The material will help social service workers and people who use services and carers know about the role of the SSSC and the standards they should expect and receive from social service workers.

You can also download some of the new leaflets from our website.

Or order more at

How employers can help

If you are an employer or a manager of a registered care services, you can make the information leaflets and videos available to your staff who are already registered or will be registered with us, and  to the people who use your service and their carers.

And the videos are ideal to use in staff training sessions and one to ones and for all new staff, even those who won’t have to register with the SSSC so that they know about our role.

I doubt many people who have all ready registered like me will make the time to watch this video! Very little of the video pertains to people already registered. You should make it much more clear via email on the exact changes.
You shouldn’t be confusing the issue by sending a huge email on many different issues (no-one has time to read all of this) while potentially including vital information about re-registering. A separate email should be provided.

You havn’t made it clear if you will send a reminder to people who are already registered to renew their SSSC registration.

Surely this is too important for you not to issue a reminder?

Furthermore I don’t believe you have my mobile number, do you require it?

    Regards John

      Dear John,

Thank you for your comments and your feedback about the videos.

Our monthly eBulletins are produced to keep our registrants, employers and subscribers up to date with information from the SSSC and the social service sector. If you would like to unsubscribe from this bulletin please email

Approximately two months before a registrant’s registration is due to expire, they will receive a renewal invite/invoice from our Finance Department. Approximately 14 days before the renewal date we send a reminder by post for anyone who has not paid. On the renewal date we will send a text and email reminder. Approximately seven days after the renewal date if the renewal form is not received, a lapsing Notice of Decision letter will be issued by post.

It is important that we hold up to date contact details for our registrants and I would advise that you update your contact details with your mobile number through your MySSSC online account.

      Kind regards

Hi there I have watched your first video and it is very informative. However, Your second video has a privacy notice on it and wont play.
Does this have the information on it that I require to know to stay registered with the SSSC. Thanks Nancy
