Dementia Ambassadors at Four Seasons Health Care’s Gowrie House care home in Kirkcaldy landed lucky with the weather for their recent fundraising afternoon.

Everyone was welcome to take part in indoor and outdoor activities to raise funds for Dementia Awareness Week. With support from local entertainers, residents, visitors and staff joined in a sing along to Coulter’s Candy, shared memories of local pastimes and found the energy to cycle almost 130 miles on an exercise bike donated for the day by a local gym.

A fabulous hamper was donated for the raffle, which the winner re donated to the care home to raise funds for the residents.

To keep the spotlight on increasing understanding, Dementia Ambassadors helped visitors as they tried out earphones, goggles and gloves which simulate the experience of living with dementia.

Moving outside for the finale, staff and Ambassadors volunteered to pop their heads through frames of a cardboard seaside scene while colleagues and visitors took aim and enthusiastically threw wet sponges to drench them!

After a great day, a total of £570 was raised for Alzheimer Scotland for Dementia Awareness Week.
