Healthcare Improvement Scotland has published the Standards for the Prevention and Management of Pressure Ulcers.
Pressure ulcers can affect anyone regardless of age or care setting and everyone has a role to play in the prevention of pressure ulcers.
The aim of the standards is to make sure that anyone with a pressure ulcer, or at risk of developing one, receives high quality care and support no matter where they receive the care for example, hospitals, care homes or at home.
The standards cover:
- risk assessment for pressure ulcers
- care planning for prevention and treatment
- education and training for health and social care professionals and people receiving care.
Awareness and understanding of the new standards will be beneficial for continuing professional development and/or underpinning knowledge for those working with the prevention and management of pressure ulcers.
If you would like someone from the standards team at Healthcare Improvement Scotland to attend a meeting or event to discuss the standards or would like print copies email Karen Grant email@example.com or Jen Layden firstname.lastname@example.org
