Housing support and care at home workers to register

Workers in care at home and housing support services can apply for registration from October 2017.

We’re telling you about this now so that you can start planning for registration of your staff.

We will do as much as possible to help you and your staff through this process. We will publish a special newsletter for employers which will give you advice and point you to various helpful tools to manage the registration of your workers. There will also be information and advice for you to pass on to your staff.

The first issue of the newsletter will be in May and will feature our new Registration Toolkit app on how to register, what staff need to do to remain on the register and the SSSC Codes of Practice. Downloading the app onto your phone means that you can quickly and easily access and refer to the Codes of Practice whenever you need to.

The actual date for the Register opening has to be passed through legislation and we will tell you about it as soon as that has happened.
