It’s the New Year and a time of resolutions so it’s a great time to get started with 23 Things: Digital or get back to working through the resource if you’ve already started.
Developing your digital capabilities and confidence is an important part of being a 21st century social service worker, as the expectations of employers and people who use services change. Workers are increasingly expected to learn digitally and developments in technology enabled care mean there is no longer an option to say ‘I don’t do technology’.
23 Things: Digital is our free online resource to support Scotland’s social service workforce to develop its digital capabilities. We understand that opportunities for learning are limited, so we developed 23 different ‘things’ – bitesize learning chunks – which we think are well suited to today’s real life practice settings. People tell us they find working through the 23 Things useful in their personal lives too.
We’ve created a new Open Badge we will award to anyone who completes at least eight things in eight weeks. Open Badge recognition is a great incentive to keep working through the 23 Things.
We’ve also launched two other new badges – the ‘community contributor’ badge which you can use to evidence your participation in a community of learners and the ‘blog of the month’ badge. The SSSC Digital Team will award this badge each month to a blogger who makes a post judged to be reflective, insightful and useful to other social service workers.
