Enriching and improving experience: supporting social care workers who provide palliative and end of life care
We have produced a booklet with case studies from people working in care home, care at home and housing support services talking about how they have benefited from using the palliative and end of life care learning and development framework.
We developed the Enriching and Improving Experience. Palliative and End of Life Care: A framework to support the needs of the health and social services workforce in Scotland in 2016 with NHS Education Scotland (NES).
In our new booklet organisations and individuals share their stories that show the difference it’s making to improve outcomes for people and how it’s supporting the learning and development needs of the workforce. Each story demonstrates how people are embedding the framework into practice and using it to support their continuous professional learning.
‘The framework and raising awareness session have helped us to recognise our own palliative and end of life care skills’.
The booklet also shares stories from the SSSC Registration Team and the Care Inspectorate. They discuss how they expect people to use the framework to help them reflect on their practice and contribute towards their post registration training and learning (PRTL) requirements and how it is and will be used in discussions with managers during inspections.
If you would like a copy of the booklet please email firstname.lastname@example.org with the number of copies you’d like and the address you’d like them sent to.
New Open Badge
Our new Palliative and End of Life Care Awareness Open Badge helps workers link and reflect on how the framework supports them in their role.
Stories are a wonderful way to share information and we would like to thank the care home, care at home and housing support organisations for their enthusiasm and time they gave to develop this resource.
