Three new members were appointed to the SSSC Council this week.
Professor James McGoldrick, SSSC Convener, welcomed the appointments of Professor Alan Baird, Keith Redpath and Theresa Allison.
‘I’m delighted to welcome three new Council Members who bring with them a vast breadth of experience of social work and social services, health and the third sector.
‘Along with the current Council Members, I am looking forward to welcoming and working with them over the next three years.’
Professor Alan Baird brings extensive knowledge and experience of social work in a career spanning nearly 40 years in local and Scottish Government. He has held roles as Director of Social Work and Chief Social Work Adviser to the Scottish Government. In 2017 he was made an Honorary Professor in Social Work at the University of Dundee.
Keith Redpath spent a total of 42 years in both local government and the NHS. He was Assistant Director of Social Work in Tayside Regional Council and has held a number of senior managerial positions in both social work and the NHS. He was the first Chief Officer of West Dunbartonshire Health and Social Care Partnership and served as Chair of the National Group of HSCP Chief Officers.
Theresa Allison has over 21 years’ experience working in the third sector, which has given her a very good knowledge and understanding of the social service environment in Scotland. She understands strategic planning and how to manage change and has previous experience as a Board Member with the Care Inspectorate.
The appointments are for three years and run from 1 September 2018 to 31 August 2021.
