Could you share the story of your career for our new social services careers website launching in Spring 2019?
We are looking for all types of social service workers to share their career stories so you can inspire others by the life changing work you do.
Most people have an idea what social service workers do, however they don’t often know about the variety of roles, what a job really involves and what the highlights and challenges are.
People who have the qualities needed for a job working with others may also struggle to take their first steps. There are many reasons for this but it can include feeling nervous about learning new skills and the uncertainty involved in changing careers.
To help them take their first step we want to showcase a large number of real career stories on our new website.
We want these stories to show the diversity of people working across social services. This means people from a range of backgrounds and people with protected characteristics as defined by the Equality Act 2010, for example age, disability, gender reassignment, race, sex, sexual orientation and religion and belief.
We also want to highlight as many different roles as possible and not only those which require SSSC registration. This includes, for example, community justice support workers, learning and development workers and social work assistants.
If you would like to find out more about this project and what’s involved in creating a career story please contact kerry.cannon@sssc.uk.com
